Hello! Lauren here!

As this is my first blog post for the BSF Pro Team blog, I’ll quickly introduce myself. My name is Lauren Jortberg, and I’m a recent graduate from Dartmouth College. I arrived in Bozeman a bit later than the rest of the team after receiving both ankle and back surgery. Look out for more updates from me as I continue my recovery, and as I build on my training with the rest of the team!

This week the team got back into the rhythm of team training after our mini “vacation week.” However ,the structured training was about the only rhythmic thing of the week. On Wednesday, a fire broke out right on the Bridgers, putting thousands of acres ablaze and turning Bozeman into what looked like a war-zone. Five days later, inches of snow fell from the sky. If there are any lessons to be learned from2020--anything can happen!! Amidst the flames ablaze in the Bridgers, the team continued to train hard while hoping the fire would settle down!

Two of the major training highlights from the week include a classic rollerski time-trial and an epic ridge run in Yellowstone National Park. We started the weekend with a classic roller ski time-trial from Moser up to Hyalite Reservoir. The group is looking fit, and the competition was quite strong with the addition of the BSFPG and college program and guests from the MSU Ski Team.

As for a little update from myself--after the epic long run in Yellowstone National Park, I flew home to Boulder, Colorado. I flew home to see my ankle surgeon as he cleared me to officially run and rollerski! Although it is mid September and snow is already falling from the sky, I’m excited to take these big steps in my training for the rest of the fall. I did a set of running L3 intervals at Mount Sanitas in the snow to celebrate my new step.

We hope everyone is staying safe from the fires, and getting out and adventuring as winter begins to creep in. Check back in next week for an update from Hannah!
