We spoke with Santa, and he has agreed to stop by en route to his much-deserved tropical vacation. Let's send him off in style with a Hawaiian Christmas theme! Christmas attire, leis, and grass skirts encouraged.

Please arrive early. If possible, register online before race day. All race-day registration will close at 4:30 pm.

THE COURSE

Bring your skate skis! (But classic is fine if you want.)

2.5km - 1 lap

5km - 2 laps

7.5km - 3 laps

Kids race: short loop and they'll get to chase Santa the whole way!

Start in front of the Lindley Center.

**NOTICE: The January 6 Bozeman Creek Hill Climb has been changed to a Sprint Circus at Sunset Hills. Snow conditions in Sourdough are not adequate for racing or classic tracks, but we promised you a FUNSKI, and a FUNSKI we will have!

Introducing the first ever Sunset Hills Freestyle Sprint Circus. Using the King's Court sprint format (see below), every racer will compete in a qualifier (racing against the clock, and starting one at a time) plus THREE sprint heats on a 1.2km loop. It should be exciting, fun, and probably a bit of a circus.

All ages and abilities - heats will be determined by qualifier time so participants will always be racing against others of similar speed, regardless of age or gender.

THE COURSE

A 1.2 km loop using the trails on the southern end of Sunset Hills.

HOW THE SPRINTS WILL WORK

The Kings Court format starts with each competitor completing an individual timed lap of the race course. Based on their time, skiers are ranked, then seeded into heat brackets of 4 – 6 racers who are of similar speeds.

The heats: Each skier then completes 3 rounds of racing: a quarter final, semi final and final. Each time a heat is run the first two skiers across the line move up to the higher-seeded bracket and the final one/two move down to the lower-seeded bracket so competitors race different people with each round and have an opportunity to improve their initial placing as the rounds go on. At the end of the event each person will have done 4 races (1 individual and 3 mass start heats/finals).

Park at the Softball Fields at the corner of Ellis & Highland and head towards the snowmaking loop.

ALERT!! We are going to close registration for the relay at NOON on February 14. We have a lot of racers so please come early and check in with your relay partner(s)!

Find a relay partner and team up for this fun course on skis. Costumes highly encouraged.

TEAMS

2-person (each person will ski two laps). Kids can form a 4-person team (each person skis 1 lap).

*When you checkin at the race, please check-in as a team so that we can link your team together in the timing system. (Racers register individually.)

REGISTRATION

If you've already registered for the FUNSKI series, no need to register again. Each relay team member registers individually. We do not need to know who is on your team until race day. If you still need to register: ONLINE REGISTRATION IS HERE.

Looking for a relay partner? We suggest arriving early and hanging out near the registration table to find a relay partner (you can even yell out "single!" like you would in the chairlift line).

When you arrive, please check-in as a team so we can link you in the timing system. Arrive early! We have a lot of teams to check in!

APRÉS SKI FUN

We will have drinks and snacks.

NOTE: We have changed this up! Instead of a classic loppet, this is now a Sunset Skiathlon (1 lap classic and one lap freestyle/skate. Do both laps as a single skier or as a two-person team. You will have the option of Long Course (5K laps) or Short Course (3K laps).

WHAT?

The race will consist of two loops; choose the Long Course 5K loop (10K total) or the Short Course 3K loop (6K total) when you register.

Lap 1: Classic style

Lap 2: Skate style

You can choose to do both laps yourself, or you can create a 2-person team.

There will be an equipment change area in the start/finish/lap zone in front of Lindley Center.

Do you change boots? Many people wear combi boots so they don't have to change, but do whatever works for you!

Costumes: it's a retro theme!

APRés SKI

We'll have snacks and drinks at the finish. Plus stick around for the end-of-season raffle!
