Between Camps

Hi all, Graham here!

Here to give you a post Park City Camp and pre-Canmore camp update. After the Park City Camp the team went into a volume week with less intensity to allow our bodies to absorb the intensity sessions that we had in Park City. There were also a few opportunities for us this week to get out and explore some more around the Bozeman area and break off from our typical training spots. The highlight of this exploring from the week came when a few of us went down to Yellowstone National Park and did a classic roller ski from the western entrance to Old Faithful. The group that went was Finn, Reid, Simon, Leah and myself and we all were unanimous in our decision that it was one of the coolest roller ski od’s that we’d ever done.

Beginning of the ski

Some pretty scenery

Overlooking a cool waterfall on Firehole Road

Some natural hot springs about half way to Old Faithful

Just one of the many beautiful places we stopped for water :)

During the ski we saw tons of bison, which are a lot bigger in person than I thought they were, but we also saw a few different elk herds grazing in the clearings. But the biggest highlight, from an animal watching perspective, was a pack of wolves feeding on an elk that they had killed about 45 minutes before we got to there. Unfrotuantley, we didnt take an photos as they were too far away and were watching them through other peoples cameras.

Just a solo Bison in a field, this was the first animal we saw

A bison chillin in front of Old Faithfull, it was actually only ten feet away

The only downside of the ski was we missed the eruption of Old Faithful by 15 minutes, so I guess next time we go we’ll try and make better timing. But now were getting ready to head to Canada to do Frozen Thunder, so stay tuned for more!
