Sunday Update: Sunset Hills got a skate refresh with the Pisten Bully and all of Highland Glen was groomed with the Pisten Bully, including fresh classic tracks. Coverage has improved but the trail is still bumpy in places. Despite the bumps the skiing should be very good so go enjoy it!

Bridger Creek is in the process of getting a skate refresh and should be nice skiing as well!

We are still finding runner foot prints at Highland Glen every day. These trails are not multi use and if you see runners out there, please remind them of that and ask them to leave. There were places where even the Pisten Bully could not erase the holes the runners left because we do not have enough snow to cut very deeply.

Someone also built a jump in the middle of the longest, steepest downhill on the Highland Trails. Please remind your kids not to build jumps in the trail! There is plenty of space along the sides (get creative!). Had we been snowmobile grooming this morning, we would not have been able to clean up the mess that the jumpers left and that hill would've been a severe hazard to all but the most expert skiers.

Icy blocks of snow left by jump builders in the trail

While the heavy wet snow is just what we need, it is a challenge to groom. As a result, Sunset Hills was groomed delicately with the Pisten Bully and appears to be good skiing There are a couple thin spots so keep your eyes peeled. The lower loops at Bridger Creek were groomed for classic and skate but it was all we could do to get around those. The sled got stuck several times and had a very hard time cornering and ultimately started overheating. We took a stab at rolling Highland Glen but with the hilly and twisting nature of those trails, it was quickly apparent that grooming was a lost cause until the snow cools off and dries out. The roller was piling snow in front of it rather than rolling over it and again, the sled could barely make it around corners.

We will revisit all of our venues when it cools off, likely tomorrow morning at which point we will do what we can to get things into tip-top shape.

For now, enjoy Sunset Hills and the lower loops at Bridger Creek!
