UPDATE: While regrooming the skate lanes at Sunset Hills and Highland Glen, a strong enough wind to move snow came up out of the east. I finished most of the regrooming but will revisit our trails in the morning to do what I can about drifts.

Last night, Bridger Creek was Ginzu groomed and classic tracks were set. Conditions are likely on the soft side as this was the first grooming of the year there and Marcus and I had only just packed the trail the for the first time earlier in the day. It is wonderful that Bridger Creek Golf Course allows us to groom trails there and so please respect their rules: No Dogs, park at the clubhouse on McIlhatten Rd, and as much as possible stay on the groomed trails. The golf course wants us to avoid greens and tee boxes to protect them and in general would like skiers off of the fairways. Compacting snow drives the frost down deeper and the result is a dis-colored strip where the compacted snow was. The route our trails take is plainly visible when the grass greens up in the spring so lets help our friends at the golf course out and limit off trail travel as much as possible. Lastly, we will be installing a porta potty at the club house this week.

No grooming elsewhere last night. While the skiing is excellent, our base is thin and we lose a little bit every time we re-groom so we are now trying to protect our trails.

We have already had issues with runners at Highland Glen. If you see any foot traffic on the ski trails, politely ask them to leave and explain that all of the trails in Highland Glen are on private property and are operated under seasonal use agreements with the Hospital. These trails do not have an easement on them. The trails are clearly signed that skiing is the only use allowed on the groomed trails.

Happy trails!
