Heads Up: New Multi-Use Trail at Highland Glen

For the last year, BSF has been working on establishing a multi-use trail in Highland Glen, and we're happy to say that it's finally here.

This is an ungroomed trail that gives people on foot, bikes (or classic skis, if you want) access to the East Ridge Trail in Highland Glen. It does cross the groomed ski trail in a few spots, and it runs alongside the ski trail at times. Red and yellow trail markers indicate the multi-use trail. The biggest thing for skiers is to use caution at those crossings--slow down, and watch out for divots or ruts in those areas.

We're excited to see this beautiful spot accessible to more users in winter. Right now, it's a pilot project, and we believe that this can be a great example of ski trails and multi-use trails existing side by side.

  • Dogs are allowed on the multi-use trail, but they must be leashed.
  • The multi-use trail is open to bikes, hikers, runners, snowshoers, and classic xc skiers.
  • With a narrow trail & multiple crossings, it's doubly important that all trail users slow down and give space when passing or at intersections.
  • Keep it kind out there!

You can read the press release here for more details on the multi-use trail.

A huge thanks to Bozeman Health and GVLT for working with us on this project and making it possible. Thanks to Kyle Marvinney, the former BSF Trails Manager and current Trails Committee Member, who began looking at possible routes and helped pack in the new multi-use trail last week, alongside BSF's Executive Director, Evan Weiss.
