12/1: Welcome to December!

December is starting off the right way with more snow! Groomers are out in town this morning and there should be decent skiing to be had! Sunset Hills and Highland Glen skied well this week but they were getting thin and crusty and this is just what we need. We should be able to get Bridger Creek dialed in now as well, especially on the lower loops.

Since it is looking like winter has set in, we now have porta potties at both Bridger Creek and the Softball Parking lot (your trail passes help pay for those, did you know?), and we should have new maps going up at the trailhead kiosks within the next few days. As always, please park at the golf course Clubhouse for Bridger Creek, not on Boylan Rd (it is all signed, quite clearly!) and respect private property around the golf course and stay on the groomed trail. Sunset Hills and Highland Glen skiers, please park at the Softball Complex, not at Lindley Center or in residential areas (this is also signed).

Lastly, we can start grooming on Forest Service land this weekend. This afternoon, we will be out packing the Sourdough trail and clearing any downed trees. The initial packing today will allow somewhat of a base to set up overnight tonight for our groomer to work with tomorrow morning. Snowmobiles and snow cats alike need some sort of base to gain traction, especially with hills like those in Sourdough. I will post another update for Sourdough tonight after I have seen what things are like up there.

As for Hyalite, the Forest Service are the primary groomers there but they are typically short-handed in December, so BSF will do the initial trail packing up there, hopefully in the next couple of days. Similar to Sourdough, we will use one machine to break trail and one to pull a roller for the initial work. We will follow up later in the week and set a track for next weekend. The Hyalite trails are intended to be a more rustic and adventurous skiing experience, hence the less frequent grooming work.

Stay tuned for more updates!
