Hi, Lauren here!

Happy 4th of July from the BSF Pro Team! We hope everyone got out to enjoy the long weekend.

As we’re about halfway through summer training, it’s time for an update! We kicked off full-time training with the college and PG program at the beginning of June. As we jumped into the swing of summer training, our two week camp in Bend, Oregon in May was a great base to build upon. Personally I’ve never been able to train that much, and especially not on snow as I’ve found myself in Hanover finishing on my spring term of school. That base in May allowed for a much less painful transition into training in June!

Our summer training has been great! We have a huge group of Pro Teamers (introductory blogs coming soon!) and the college squad, making our training group from 15-20 on a daily basis. It’s really fun to have the young college kid energy added to our group.

This is my first summer training with the team because I had back and ankle surgery last summer. That being said, we had a pretty strong focus on double pole in June, and I did my first set of double pole intervals as well as a four hour double pole. It feels really good to be able to double pole again, especially pain free! It definitely has been a long and hard process getting back into feeling strong and confident in my double pole, but I’ve been feeling exponentially  stronger.

Other than focusing on my double pole, I’ve been trying to use this summer to be really thoughtful and intentional with my training and technique. As my coach at Dartmouth, Cami Thompson-Graves, always said “take time to be thoughtful, don’t just go through the motions.” It can be easy to get caught up in the pace of life, especially while in college. However, now that I’m a full-time ski racer, I’m definitely trying to take advantage of having the time to be thoughtful and intentional with my training and how my body is responding to training.

Some of our training highlights from June include the Jim Bridger Trail Run race, a run in the Spanish Peaks, an L3 skate 5km “test” workout, double pole pace line intervals, a 4 hour double pole, and a running time trial up the M.

We also got some new summer training kits from podium wear that we love! Thanks for reading my June update, check back soon for more updates!
