A Recovery Week

What up! Finn here,

The Pro Team took a different approach to training this week. Since we all came together in the beginning of June to start team training, this is the first week we have not trained together. After a high intensity camp in Coeur d’Alene and a big volume week here in Bozeman, this past week was all OYO (on your own) training.

This week has numerous purposes. First, all of our bodies handle the volume and intensity differently, so for some, they may have taken multiple days off. Others are fine with just one or two days off. Second, we are all from different places around the US, and have gone all summer away from home. So if needed, this was a good time to go home, or just get out of town and do something new, a little less focused on training. Finally, this week served as a mental break from the hard but very fun summer, and helps to rejuvenate us for the next month or two before snow comes!

For me, I was able to try some different workouts early on in the week, more focused towards rest and recovery. I would run for around one hour, and then do a one hour long stretching/ yoga session. On Tuesday I was able to go to my hometown of Steamboat Springs CO, and have some quality family time. Being from Bike Town USA, me and my dad were in the saddle every morning. It was awesome to spend time with him doing something we both love! I was also able to train with some of my friends from other colleges. Most of my training was mountain biking including a really fun 4hr ride! I also was able to do one of my mom and I’s favorite activity, golf! And finally it was very nice to have home cooked meals, from waffles and bacon, to elk and my personal favorite, twice baked potatoes.

I am now back in Bozeman, ready to hit the pavement with the team. I am excited to train hard and smart these next few months and get ready for racing season!
