by:

It's time to get excited about skiing! Registration opens August 18 for Devo & Comp programs and September 8 for all Intro Programs. We have a few important updates and changes for this season, so keep on reading.

IMPORTANT DATES

August 18 (12 pm): registration opens for all Development (Devo), Competitive (Comp) programs. (Plus Adult Nordic training groups.) These programs have options that begin in September, for those interested in fall dryland training.

September 8: (12 pm) registration opens for all Intro Programs (Nordic, Alpine, Freestyle)

September 23: BSF's Oktoberfest with special guest Heather McPhie Watanabe

October 14: Scholarship applications due

October 18: registration opens for Adult Nordic Ski Courses (ex. Intro to Skate Skiing)

November 5-6: BSF Ski Swap

REGISTRATION BETA

CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT: The software system we use received a major overhaul, which means EVERYONE will need to create a new account when they register this year.

PAYMENT PLANS: For invoices over $1500, payments can be made in 3 payments. IMPORTANT: If your family is registering multiple children, please be sure to register and checkout all in one transaction if you'd like a single payment plan option. The newly updated system does not allow us to combine orders/create payment plans after the fact. If participants are registered in separate transactions, it will result in separate payment plans.

(*If you have extenuating circumstances with the $1500 starting point on payment plans, please contact us.)

WAITLISTS: Typically the Intro Programs fill up quickly. If a program is full, you will have the option of signing up for the waitlist. (We'll fill open spots in the order received.) Please (we cannot emphasize this enough) do NOT sign your child up for a program they are not qualified for or one they cannot attend in the hopes of "getting them into the system" and switching to a different program later. This will not help your cause, and it only creates a monster of a mess administratively. Use the waitlist! (And if you still aren't convinced, see the new refund policy.)

PROCESSING FEES: The following processing fees will be added to your total. These are the fees charged by the payment processor; BSF does not keep any of these fees.

Credit cards paying in full: 3% fee

Bank transfer paying in full: no fee

Credit cards payment plan: 3% fee and $1.50 per payment ($4.50 total)

Bank transfer payment plan: $2.50 fee per payment ($7.50 total)

NEW REFUND POLICY

With 1,000-plus registrants each year and some abuse of our generous refund policy in recent years, we had to make some changes to the refund policy. Please read it in its entirely HERE.

In a nutshell:

  • Once you make an initial payment, $150 of the program fee is non-refundable.
  • No refunds for fall/winter programs after December 1 (except for involuntary withdrawal due to documented medical illness, injury, or family relocation).
  • BSF will not issue refunds if the athlete does not meet the pre-requisites for an Intro program (this mainly applies to Alpine & Freestyle Intro, and you can view the required skills and a video about those skills on the Alpine & Freestyle Intro page.)

In other words: please make sure that your child is ready for any program before you register them. If you aren't sure about the best fit, contact us and we're happy to help!

Thanks for understanding with these changes. While our enrollment is growing, we're still a scrappy nonprofit with a small core staff, and we need to account for administrative time dealing with the complicated process of issuing refunds, hire enough coaches with plenty of notice, and keep the playing field fair with our waitlists.

OTHER REMINDERS:

Physicals: Note that physicals are required of all athletes that are 12 years of age and older in Alpine, Nordic, or Freestyle/Freeskiing/Snowboarding. (This is not required for any Intro programs.) We advise planning ahead and getting an appointment now. You will need to have them fill out the BSF Pre-participation Physical Form.

Scholarships. Please be sure to apply for need-based aid if you need it. Application deadline is October 14. More info.

Freeski Programs: Note that our Freeski Program has expanded with a new Program Director, a full-time option, and their own website pages.

Freeride Team: After a successful pilot season, the Freeride Team has its own official team program. You can register separately for this with 1, 2, and 3-day a week options.

Questions?

Start with the website. We've worked hard to answer most basic questions for each program on your team page. You'll find scholarship info, schedules, equipment lists, volunteer expectations, and more on each page.

For help checking out/registering: email admin@bridgerskifoundation.org. (Reminder that the BSF office is still on summer hours: Tu, W, Th from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. during the month of August.)

For questions about the programs: contact the program director/head coach listed on your team website page.
