Earlier this month the team traveled to Park City Woodward for the first Futures Tour event of the season. The Futures Tour is a series of events put on by USASA. It is where athletes can have their first opportunity to compete out of region for a chance to qualify for Rev Tour. The Rev Tour is considered a semi-professional level.

Our full time comp team spent a lot of time this off season going through sports psychology curriculum to gear up specifically for these events. It requires them to be at their peak, both physically and mentally. When the team pulled up to the venue for the first time, we couldn’t have been more stoked on the course. The rails and jumps were large and the athletes were ready to start piecing together their runs.

On Tuesday we had our first full day of training on the course. For the most part it went great, and almost everyone was able to get their runs down for qualifiers on Wednesday. I want to give a HUGE shoutout to Casper Lemley who suffered a concussion during training. Unfortunately it took him out of the competition and skiing the remainder of the week. He could have easily let it ruin his time in Park City, but he chose instead to be a support for the rest of his team and used his time to film his teammates.

Qualifiers didn’t quite go the way everyone would have liked, but we had some great highlights. Wylie Mugaas skied very consistently and landed both of his qualifier runs. He stomped a 630 out of one of the top rail features, which he had never done before. Miles Hundhausen also stepped up his rails with a 630 out of the same feature. We had several other athletes put together clean runs and just missed making it to finals.

Rylan Messnar managed to qualify for finals and landed both of his runs. He was up against most kids that were 2 to 3 years older than him and showed great composure. Congrats Rylan, and to the rest of the team, for making BSF proud! We are looking forward to our next one at Northstar Tahoe, California at the end of this month.
