BSF Testifies in Helena to Support a Trail Grants Fund

On January 29, BSF Executive Director Evan Weiss and BSF Trails Manager Kyle Marvinney testified to the Senate Fish & Game Committee in Helena as proponents for Montana Senate Bill 24. This bill would create Montana's first state-funded trail grant program. The large, overflow attendance included 24 proponents and no opponents.

Currently, BSF and many other organizations rely on federally funded Recreational Trail Program (RTP) grants, which Montana Fish & Wildlife administers. While the RTP grant helps cover some of our grooming and equipment costs for the BSF trails program, the federal program is not guaranteed to be funded each year.
