But first, a little love note from the FUNSKI organizing committee:

Dear Nordic Community,

Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude! Thank you for bringing all your energy, enthusiasm, and the most fabulous costumes to this week's Valentines Relay.

When we launched the FUNSKI series, our aim was to create a space where our community could come together and celebrate Nordic skiing in all its wonderful diversity. From little ones just starting to glide, to competitive athletes in their prime, to seasoned skiers whose fastest days are behind them - and everyone in between. However, even in our wildest dreams, we couldn't have anticipated the incredible spirit of the nearly 250 of you who gathered on Wednesday night to live, laugh, and ski together.

Thank you for being our Valentines!

10 Lessons learned from the 2024 Valentine's Relay FUNSKI:

1. Everyone loves a relay race. All ages, all abilities. We had a record 229 racers on course.

2. Exchange zones can be a little chaotic, but the key is to keep smiling.

3. Yes, you can Nordic ski in jeans.

4. The team names were as good as the costumes. Some of our favorites: Glide & Groom, Love Kills, Who's Yo Mama, The Skiing Scuffles, Love on Spruce, Your Midsummer Dream, and the Alaska Distasta.

5. Racing is fun. It's not always about who wins, or even who skis fast. Sometimes it's just about getting out there, doing it, and hanging out with your friends afterwards.

6. Sometimes it's also about the s'mores and hot cocoa.

7. We don't care how you ski, or what you look like when you ski (though we do enjoy the costumes). We love that you showed up!

8. There's nothing better than watching kids grow up learning to love costumes, glitter, skiing AND racing.

9. This ski community is the best! From our amazing Nordic committee that spearheads these races, to the volunteers, grooming team, spectators, and racers.

10. We have great FUNSKI sponsors to thank: Bangtail Bike & Ski, Uphill Pursuits, and Sauce Active Wear. Thank you for supporting such a vibrant community race series! The last FUNSKI is will be a Skiathlon on March 6 (you can ski both the skate and classic portions by yourself, or you can keep with the relay theme and team up with another skier.)
