UPDATE: A couple inches of wet snow does wonders. We groomed all of our venues the night of 1/30, including all of the small loops (Sac, MSU, dog loop). Skiing looks to be very good every where. There may be some old crusty snow showing through and mixed in at Sunset Hills and Highland Glen. The dog loop is also showing quite a bit of water ice in the low spots near the library. Sourdough got quite a bit of snow above the bridge and with the high moisture content, it should stick to the ice lower down. Tracks were set all the way to Mystic Lake. Bridger Creek will be getting a full grooming as well.
As of 8PM Monday, it is very warm out still. the snow surface has crusted over a bit on the trails, but everything is soft underneath. It is forecast to stay quite warm over night and should this be the case, we likely will not do much grooming Tuesday morning, especially with snow forecast for the afternoon. That being said, Sunset hills and Sourdough may get quick touch ups, but we will save the bulk of our effort for Tuesday evening when it is forecast to cool off.
Sourdough skiers, please use extreme caution in the first couple miles. The trail will be gettin icey and with all of the people out there, we all need to pay attention and slow down for the bottom 2 miles.
