Trail Etiquette Reminder

As we go into the new year, please remember to respect all of the other trail users out there, especially in multi use areas like Sourdough. Foot traffic and dogs are allowed there and everyone needs to be nice to each other. The trails we have are an incredible resource and we need to do everything we can to keep these trails going. Respect needs to come from all directions. Skiers of all abilities, walkers and runners, and dogs are all trail users in Sourdough and there is space for all of us if we pay attention and allow space for others. There are some large downhills and blind corners in the first miles of Sourdough and those miles see a lot of traffic. Approach every corner like there is someone coming the other way, slow down on the steeper down hills, and remember, we are all out enjoying winter.

On a similar note, when skiing the dog loop, please keep your dog on a leash. Remember, Lindley Park is used by lots of people and the city is very kindly letting us groom a loop for skiing with dogs there. It will only take a few incidents for us to lose that trail and we really want to keep it going. Only bring dogs who are well socialized. For the time being, the city would like dogs to be on a leash at the dog loop as required by city ordinance. Work is in progress towards a temporary leashless designation but lets please respect the city on this one. It doesnt mean you cant ski with your dog.

As for our trails, they are in great shape right now. We were able to get most of Bridger Creek groomed and track set tonight before another mechanical issue derailed the effort (un-related to the previous one). We are planning to groom the Dog Loop and Sac Middle School tonight, as well as some of Sourdough. The skiing in Sourdough is good but the lower miles are getting a little rough and need a touch up. Individual updates will be posted as work reports come in tonight.

Happy New Year
