Hope y'all are enjoying this new snow! The grooming crew is working hard to pack things down as it comes in, and they'll then work on grooming trails.
BSF is hosting a really big and important Nordic race this coming weekend - the final Junior National Qualifier for the Intermountain Division. We'll have over 400 racers from MT, WY, ID, and UT, with many of them vying for a chance to represent the region at Junior Nationals in Alaska next month.
This means:
1) Trail closures at Sunset Hills (for both race prep and the races themselves). Sunset Hills will be closed to the public:
Friday, Feb 17: 6 am - 1 pm
Saturday, Feb 18: 6 am - 5 pm
Sunday, Feb 19: 6 am - 1 pm
2) BSF needs race volunteers. No experience necessary! Right now, we especially need start/finish helpers and course marshals.
Start/finish: you'll be lining up athletes, putting on timing chips, and taking bibs/chips at the finish line.
Course marshall: you'll be stationed at a location on the course and will keep racers and spectators on track and safe.
3) You're invited to come cheer on the skiers. You'll see some incredible skiing by some of the top high school skiers in the country. Classic sprint races are on Saturday and are exciting to watch, with multiple heats and lots of tactics leading up to the finals. (You can watch the entire race unfold right from the stadium area in front of Lindley Center.) On Sunday, we'll have a series of skate skiing races with mass starts, which also makes for great spectating. Spectators should park in Hospital Lot E (or the Softball parking lot). Parking around the Lindley Center is reserved for team vans only.
