Sourdough

Well, Sourdough is skiable and partially groomed. The lower miles are very thin and will get scraped off or turned into ice easily. Be very, very careful when skiing back down. The sections of trail that had some old snow hanging on should actually ski very well. From the bridge to Wildhorse junction is in very good condition and we were able to get the trail nice and wide. The last mile to Mystic Lake, however, is very thin and very rocky. From the bridge to Moser Divide is likewise thin and rocky and due to ruts in the underlying road surface, very uneven. We simply dont have enough snow to smooth the ruts out yet. Moser is certainly skiable but not recommended.

As always, skiers are reminded to be courteous to other users and to keep it slower from mile 3 back to the trailhead. This is especially true with the thin snow cover; without a good cushion of snow, crashes could be very painful. As always, please pick up after your dogs and keep them close.

With warm weather this week, we'll see how things hold up but as of now, the town trails are excellent for early season skiing. If you have time to get out to Sourdough, sooner is better than later, unless we get more snow.

Think snow and enjoy!
