For your weekend skiing, there are a range of options and all of them are good at the moment! Sunset Hills and Bridger Creek are getting touch ups tonight and should have excellent skiing for both skate and classic. Highland glen is good skiing, particularly for skate. Cover is still thin for good tracks (though there are some set). We may run a touch up at Highland Saturday night, but for now it is good to go.
Sourdough was groomed to Wildhorse Thursday night and we finally packed in the last mile to Mystic Lake then as well. The first mile of Sourdough is very thin but most of the rocks are visible. Cover improves dramatically above mile one and the skiing is very good. Above the bridge, I expect conditions to still be soft though the ginzu made a world of difference smoothing the trail. The classic track will be soft in places but it is in. The last mile to Mystic Lake is still on the thin side, I felt lots of rocks dinging off the skis of the snowmobile, so ski it with caution. Moser will get a ginzu run Saturday night, which will also freshen up the lower miles of Sourdough.
As a general heads up, BSF is having a time trial for their comp team at Sunset Hills Saturday morning which will be followed by a shoveling party to get snow onto the sections of trail we could not reach with the blower. This is all in preparation for Intermountain Nordic races there next weekend, so keep that on the calendar, come spectate if you want, but plan to ski elsewhere the weekend the 16th and 17th.
Happy trails!
