UPDATE 11/20 10PM: I did couple laps of Sunset Hills with the Ginzu and things appeared to clean up nicely, enjoy!
I got out and skied all of Highland Glen and Sunset Hills this morning and despite the thin cover, the skiing is quite good! A few of the steeper south faces at Highland have bare ground showing but as a whole the trail is hanging on and there is very little in the way of icy or overly firm surface. There has been an increasing volume of foot traffic throughout the Highland System however. I know these reminders show up over and over on this page but here it is again: the groomed ski trails at Highland Glen are not open to foot or bike traffic (there have been some bikes out too). Especially when the snow cover is thin, we cannot efficiently groom out the divots and holes left by runners in the middle of the trail without pulling up dirt and grass, which then only serves to speed up the melting of the ski trail. Skiers, please politely remind bikers, runners, and walkers to use trails other than the groomed ones!
Sunset Hills is skiing very, very well right now. Some spots are getting a bit firm so if you are out early, keep that in mind. I think we will try to touch up Sunset Hills with the ginzu tonight. Due to the bumpy ground surface at Highland, it is hard to ginzu groom in low snow without making a mess.
Think snow!
