Kai Mittelsteadt to Represent U.S. at Youth Olympics

A BSF Nordic skier is headed to the 2020 Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne, Switzerland. It was fitting that on his birthday, Kai Mittelsteadt got the news that he'll be one of three male skiers representing the U.S. "It was the best birthday present ever," says his mother, Jane Mittelsteadt. "He is very excited."

Originally, the U.S. Olympic Committee only planned to bring one Nordic athlete per gender. But with the American skiers stepping it up at the 2019 Junior World Championships, including a gold medal in the men's relay, the U.S. was authorized to bring two additional skiers. Kai will join Will Koch (Stratton Mountain School) and Brian Bushey (Green Mountain Valley School), along with three females (whose names we don't officially have).

Skiers were selected based on their junior results at the Senior National Championships in Craftsbury, Vermont, last January. The Youth Olympic Games are slated for January 9-22, 2020.

Congratulations, Kai!
