FUNSKI Race Series Celebrates Community

Bridger Ski Foundation's FUNSKI series was designed to be a low-key race series where the community could come together to enjoy some fun cross country ski courses and socialize afterwards. On Wednesday night, more than 150 racers poured onto the trails at Sunset Hills in Bozeman, clad in costumes, and paired up for the last race in the FUNSKI series, a 4 x 1.5km Valentine's relay race.

While they call skiing an individual sport, BSF athletes across the disciplines know that it's the team that makes the experience. And thus, there's nothing better than a relay. The FUNSKI Valentine's Relay provides the perfect opportunity for skiers of all ages--from some of our youngest BSF skiers, to adults who've just begun to learn how to skate ski--to embrace the team spirit, inject a little fun with costumes, and discover how much fun a race can be (even when it's hard and a tad chaotic with 70 teams racing at once).

The Valentine's Relay might win the award for the most smiles in a cross country ski race.

A huge thanks to the volunteer Nordic Committee for organizing the FUNSKI series, to the volunteers who helped with each race, and to Muddy Dog Timing. Several race sponsors made this series possible: Yellowstone Track Systems, Les Schwab Tires, Bangtail Bikes, and Nordic Brew Works/Polar Brewing. Thank you for helping us grow the love of skiing and winter!
