The BSF team rolled up to the Big Sky IFSA Jr 2* with around 50 athletes, and with some fresh snow on the venue on Friday, they threw down! The new snow quickly got packed down, and conditions transitioned to being faster than anticipated, but athletes kept it in check, with most athletes making it to finals. On finals day, BSF athletes skied clean, smart, and dialed. Some stand out performances:
- Maple Lewton, after laying down a killer run at qualifiers, had one of the scarier falls on the venue, but did the self-arrest of the day, and got up, dusted off the snow, and skied down!
- Eva Franklin, an alpine racer, finished 3rd in U12 ski girls, and this was her first freeride comp!
- After a scary fall earlier in the season, Ole O'Brien made quite the comeback with two solid and clean runs in the U15 Ski Male category, only 0.2 away from the podium, ending up in 5th place.
- Kat Pugh's qualifying run, didn't go how she planned, but she went to finals and absolutely STOMPED the line she was hoping to, with the 4th best finals run.
- Gunnie Milhoan had quite possibly the most unique line of the day during qualifiers, and skied it perfectly. While his score did not reflect the creativity of his line, his finals run was also incredible, and was the 4th best run of finals.
- Bammie Zell had two absolutely stellar runs, demonstrating his athleticism, control, and absolutely solid technique. Bam doesn't ski around moguls, moguls ski around Bam! He ended up in 2nd place, with the highest scoring run of finals, and less than 1 point from the top of the podium.
