One in five Montana students is food insecure, and Emma McAninch, an eighth grader and a member of BSF's Nordic team, has organized a 5K run to do something about it. Slated for noon on May 19 at Lindley Park, the Fun Run for Food will help raise money and donations to expand Sacajawea Middle School's pantry and emergency food resources for students. Emma and her fellow students are working with the Gallatin Valley Food Bank.

In addition to being a skier, Emma is a runner and a member of the governor's Youth Leadership Council. The Bozeman Daily Chronicle recently interviewed Emma and her principal.

"She already has a heart and a passion for helping those in need," said Sacajawea Principal Gordon Grissom.
