We love seeing where BSF alumni end up. Here's a recent BSF alum who is finding his creative way in the world.

Jack competing for BSF in slopestyle at USASA Junior Nationals in 2017.

Last summer, hampered by a knee injury, Jack Price got the news that he'd won a documentary film contest sponsored by U.S. Ski and Snowboard. The contest was open to young filmmakers under 21, and Jack told his story and that of a fellow skier to illustrate how two people from different backgrounds can be similar in their ambitions.

After an ACL injury, the contest gave Jack momentum. “I had to do a 180 with my focus this year off," Jack told Bozeman Magazine in this article. "Making ‘Pushing the Boundaries’ was the first wave of many sets of waves of me slowly getting into my craft of film. I’m putting energy into doing freelance video around Bozeman and working part time as the assistant editor for Meateater, a Netflix show based out of Bozeman centered around hunting and prepping food."

It was an honor just to win the national competition, and it came with a cash prize, but it also had some additional perks. During the 2019 Freestyle & Freeskiing World Championships, Jack got to be the film intern for the U.S. Ski Team.

"I was able to film all of the U.S. athletes while they trained and qualified for the finals," says Jack. "It was a super sweet experience." The videos he took appeared on the U.S. Ski & Snowboard's social media channels.

What's next? Jack has been accumulating some other great film experience this year, and he plans to attend MSU next fall for film and photography.

Just goes to show: fiddling around with your friends making homemade ski films might lead to something bigger.
