The Bozeman Citizens' Cup is a community Nordic race series hosted by Bridger Ski Foundation (BSF), featuring courses on Bozeman's beautiful trail system.

Races are open to skiers of all ages and levels of fitness and experience. The races will be timed and have some age divisions. But the main purposes are to have fun, celebrate the sport of Nordic skiing, and enjoy our local trails! We'll also have some fabulous raffle prizes and post-race refreshments!

All the Bozeman Citizens' Cup races take place on the trails groomed and maintained by Bridger Ski Foundation's Community Nordic Trails Program.

Bozeman creek hill Climb - December 29, 2018

DECEMBER 29, 2018

10:00 a.m. Bozeman Creek Hill Climb, 6.5 km & 3.5 km classic


Both courses start at the 1-mile mark on the Bozeman Creek (Sourdough) trail.

6.5 km: Begins at the 1 mile marker and winds up Sourdough Canyon/Bozeman Creek, and finishes at the Bridge (just before the 5 mile marker). Classic technique.

3.5 km: Begins at the 1-mile marker and finishes at the outhouse.


Give yourself enough time to ski from the parking lot to the 1-mile mark (start line) on the trail. You'll register at the start line.

9:00 - 9:45 a.m. is registration

9:55 a.m. Snowmobile will depart for finish areas. We will take racers' warm-up clothes to the finish.

10:00 a.m. Start

Post-race: ski back down to the trailhead. Awards will immediately follow at the Bozeman Creek trailhead.

Open to all skiers: 

Recreational and competitive skiers are all welcome at the BSF Citizen Cup Race Series, and we hope to see a strong showing from the entire Bozeman Nordic skiing community! 


Race Cost: $10

Online registration: Available now for BSF members on Ski Club Pro.

Racers will also be able to register on race day at the starting line (at Bozeman Creek's 1 mile marker).

(BSF membership is NOT required for this race!)

Registration: online on SkiClubPro or on race day, at Lindley Center, from 3:15 - 4:00 p.m.

Course: Uses the trails at Sunset Hills. Register and start at Lindley Center (1102 E. Curtiss St.)


Awards: Awards and raffle drawing to follow events in the Lindley Center.

Sunset Hills Two-Person Sprint Relay,  skating

(each team member skis a ~1.2 km  loop twice)

on the Nordic trails at Sunset Hills (Lindley Center) in Bozeman

Break out your favorite socks, the sparkle, and channel your inner Diggins. It's the Valentine's Day Relay. Team up with your Valentine, Gal-entine, Pal-entine, colleague, or a brand new friend and get ready for some exciting laps on the course. Remember, these are fun, community races. No race experience necessary! Costumes encouraged--and eligible for awards.

Don't have a relay partner? Don't worry. Just register online and we'll pair you with another skier on race day.

Registration: online at Ski Club Pro or on race day, at Lindley Center, from 3:15 - 4:00 p.m.

Both you and your teammate need to register and pay the $10 fee separately. The online registration form has a place for your teammate's name & your team name. (Leave it blank if you want to be paired with someone on race day.)

Race cost: $10 per person

Course: Uses the trails at Sunset Hills. Register and start at Lindley Center (1102 E. Curtiss St.)

Awards for this race are, well, creative. We'll be handing out awards for the team with the largest age difference, the best costume pairing, the longest relationship, the youngest team, the team with the best technique, the most "mature" team, and the list goes on. Inspire us.

Classic Ski Races at Hyalite Reservoir

15 km only

Location: start will be in the Hyalite Reservoir Parking Lot, near the pavilion.

Course: will begin on the Crescent Lake trail, follow the ski trails past the reservoir, behind the Window Rock Cabin, and return past the Maxey Cabin. There will be a feed station where the trail crosses the road above the Grotto Falls Parking Area, and another aid station at the parking lot at Palisades Falls. (Plus snacks at the finish, too.)

Cost: $10

Registration: online (closes at 4pm on Friday, March 22) or on race day, next to the start from 8:45 - 9:30 a.m. only.
